Father ran over his two-year-old son to death – DETAILS of the accident

The trial of Elshan Askerov, accused of causing the death of his young son by negligence, has concluded in the Lankaran Court for Serious Crimes.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.Az, the defendant was sentenced during the proceedings.

By court decision, E.Askerov was deprived of freedom for 5 years. Applying Article 70 of the Criminal Code, the court ruled that 2 years of the sentence would be suspended.

Recall that the tragic incident occurred on September 13 of last year. Elshan Askerov, a resident of Orta Mugan village in Saatly district, was planning to attend a pre-wedding event at a fellow villager's yard. For this purpose, he started his VAZ-2161 car, which was in the yard, and began to reverse. At that moment, his two-year-old son Sanan Askerov (born 2022), who was playing near the house, was behind the car, resulting in the vehicle running over the child. Despite the boy being taken to the hospital, they were unable to save him.
