As Report was informed by the airport, design works are currently underway, particularly the development of the project's feasibility study.

"Construction of the new terminal will begin after the completion of design works. The commissioning of the terminal will significantly increase passenger traffic," noted the air harbor's press service.

The need to expand the airport's infrastructure is due to the rapid growth in passenger traffic and increase in international flights. In 2024, Heydar Aliyev Airport served a record 7.537 million passengers, which is 31% more than the previous year.

"The new terminal will make a significant contribution to the development of the aviation sector and strengthen Azerbaijan's status as an international aviation hub," added the airport.
