A new airport is being built in Baku

Construction of a new airport continues in Azerbaijan, which will be located in the Alat Free Economic Zone.
According to Baku.ws, citing Xəzər TV, the new airport will function not only as a cargo terminal but will also serve passenger transportation and business aviation.
The Chairman of the Economic Zone Board, Valeh Aleskerov, noted that the airport will be located on an area of 750 hectares, and its main goal is to transform Azerbaijan into an aviation hub.
The airport is expected to be commissioned next year.
The Alat Free Economic Zone has been actively developing since the opening of its first phase a year and a half ago.
As V. Aleskerov mentioned, an enterprise for producing 200,000 tons of aluminum will also be built in the economic zone, which will create around 1,300-1,400 jobs. A second enterprise, which will create more than 800 jobs, plans to manufacture products for industry.
