Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
As reported by AZERTAG, the message states:
"Your Excellency,
I have the honor to sincerely congratulate you on the recent agreement reached between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia. Your courage in prioritizing peace over disagreements deserves high praise and clearly demonstrates your commitment to prosperity and stability in the region. This important event not only marks a decisive step towards normalizing relations but also gives hope for a more stable and harmonious region, paving the way for world peace.
Your commitment to dialogue and diplomacy, despite difficulties, testifies to your outstanding leadership. This agreement not only gives hope to the citizens of both countries but also serves as a positive example for conflict resolution on the world stage. This agreement can lead to fruitful cooperation in addressing important issues that affect the well-being of the citizens of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
I believe that strengthening partnership relations with the World Health Organization can enhance Azerbaijan's leading role in global health. Joint efforts aimed at addressing common health challenges, such as infectious and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, can yield positive results not only for Azerbaijan but also for the entire international community.
Once again, congratulations on this remarkable achievement. I wish you continued success on the path to peace and stability. I look forward to close cooperation with you in improving the health of people worldwide.
Your Excellency, please accept my highest respect."
