The trial of Zakhireddin Ibragimov has begun
A preliminary court hearing has been held in the criminal case opened by the State Security Service (SSS) against Zahireddin Ibrahimov, who is accused of treason — specifically, of carrying out assignments for foreign intelligence services while on the territory of a third country, as well as of committing actions aimed at inciting ethnic hatred and hostility on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
As reported by APA, during the proceedings at the Lankaran Court on Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Agil Nuriyev, the personal data of the accused were verified, and his rights and obligations were explained to him.
The judicial panel decided to refer the case for trial.
The court hearing has been scheduled for April 16.
It should be noted that Zahireddin Ibrahimov was arrested in March 2025 within the framework of a criminal case initiated by the SSS.
It was established that, in exchange for material gain, he had been recruited for secret cooperation and carried out assignments of foreign intelligence services directed against the sovereignty, territorial integrity, state security, and defense capability of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and also conducted large-scale destructive separatist activities.
He has been charged under Articles 274 (treason), 281.3 (public appeals against the state on the orders of foreign organizations and their representatives), and 283.1 (actions aimed at inciting national hatred and hostility) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
