The State Flag of Azerbaijan was raised in New York
The Azerbaijani tricolor was raised in New York on the occasion of November 8 - Victory Day and November 9 - National Flag Day.
As BAKU.WS reports with reference to Report, the Azerbaijani flag was hoisted on a giant flagpole in Bowling Green Park, located on Wall Street - one of the most tourist-visited streets considered to be the symbol and financial center of New York.
The flag-raising ceremony was organized by the Azerbaijan-New York Association.
The event was attended by Salkhat Abbasova, head of department at the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Azerbaijani diaspora activists, and Azerbaijani students studying in the USA.
Speakers talked about the historical significance of November 8 - Victory Day. It was noted that for five years now, the Azerbaijani people have been living with the pride and joy of the victory they had waited for about 30 years. The speeches emphasized that during the 44-day Patriotic War, the Azerbaijani people united as one fist. There was also a moment of silence honoring the memory of martyrs who brought the great Victory at the cost of their lives.
Then, to the sounds of the National Anthem, our National Flag of Azerbaijan was raised.
The ceremony attracted the attention of locals and tourists who took photos with the Azerbaijani flag in the background. Our compatriots provided them with detailed information about the history, culture, and traditions of Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani flag will fly in Bowling Green for 10 days.
