President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order on holding the 90th anniversary of Yusif Samedoglu.

As reported by AZERTAG, the document states:

"December 2025 marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of a prominent representative of Azerbaijani literature, People's Writer, well-known public figure Yusif Samedoglu (Yusif Samed oglu Vekilov).

Yusif Samedoglu is one of the outstanding personalities with rare talent nurtured by Azerbaijani prose of the 20th century. The writer, who left his mark on the literary process with his works of deep social and moral content, including stories, novels and film scripts that are examples of high artistry, has special merits in the transition of national prose to a qualitatively new level in the 60-70s of the last century. The famous novel "Day of Execution," which tells about the world and man and became a bright event in cultural life, brought the writer fame far beyond Azerbaijan. Yusif Samedoglu used the authoritative literary and artistic collections that he led as a platform for the wide dissemination of national thought and ideas, was at the forefront of the liberation movement and the struggle for the country's independence, and always distinguished himself by his civic position as a representative of the intelligentsia in relation to the fateful problems of the people.

Guided by paragraph 32 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in order to ensure the holding of the 90th anniversary of People's Writer Yusif Samedoglu, who made a worthy contribution to enriching the national treasury of artistic thought, I decree:

1. The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, taking into account the proposals of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan, shall prepare and implement a plan of events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of People's Writer Yusif Samedoglu.

2. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan shall resolve issues arising from this order".
