The Milli Majlis Responded to the Statement of the Swedish Parliament

The Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan considers the biased statement of the Swedish-Armenian friendship group unacceptable.
This is stated in a letter from members of the Azerbaijan-Sweden inter-parliamentary relations working group addressed to members of the Swedish-Armenian friendship group in the Swedish parliament, reports BAKU.WS.
The letter notes that this statement, full of false information and baseless accusations, is a shameful attempt to distort reality, question the sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and whitewash the crimes committed by Armenian separatists and war criminals against the Azerbaijani people.
"Being part of the Armenian lobby, you chose to remain silent about Armenia's 30-year occupation of internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan, countless war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and mass gross human rights violations against peaceful Azerbaijani residents. You deliberately chose to turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed by Armenian armed formations, the Khojaly genocide, brutal murders of innocent people, including children, women, and the elderly, subjecting them to unbearable torture," the letter states.
It emphasizes that Azerbaijan, having restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty in accordance with international law, has full legal right to prosecute persons who committed serious crimes, including crimes of separatism, against peace and humanity, war crimes, terrorist acts against the Azerbaijani state and its citizens.
"Such fabricated accusations as 'illegal deprivation of liberty, physical and psychological torture and political persecution of Armenian prisoners, including political figures and civilians,' and others are nothing but fiction aimed at diverting attention from the actions of those responsible for the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, destruction of our cities and villages, expulsion of 750 thousand Azerbaijanis from their homeland through ethnic cleansing and systematic destruction of Azerbaijan's national, cultural and historical heritage," the letter notes.
The letter also highlights the hypocrisy of the Swedish-Armenian friendship group members, which is manifested in ignoring the fate of thousands of peaceful Azerbaijani residents who suffered from Armenian forces' atrocities during the 30-year occupation, including 4 thousand missing persons whose fate remains unknown.
"The selective and biased approach based on double standards demonstrates that the true intention of the group members is to defame Azerbaijan through political manipulation," the letter states.
Azerbaijani deputies called on their Swedish colleagues to abandon unfounded accusations and false claims aimed at undermining justice. "The era of impunity for war criminals has already ended, and all attempts to justify those guilty of crimes against our people and state are doomed to fail," the letter emphasizes.
