The Milli Majlis adopted in the third reading a bill on raising the status of the Plenipotentiary Representation of the President in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR).

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.Az, the corresponding draft amendments to the law "On Civil Service" were put up for discussion at the plenary session of the parliament today.

According to the draft, the Plenipotentiary Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan AR will receive the status of a 1st category state body. The document was prepared with the aim of improving the governance model in the autonomous republic within the framework of large-scale structural and administrative reforms being carried out in the country.

The Plenipotentiary Representation is an executive body carrying out tasks determined by the head of state on the territory of the NAR. The representation is headed by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President, who is appointed and dismissed by the head of state and is directly subordinate to him.

The amendments also provide for the exclusion of the positions of the plenipotentiary representative and his deputies from the classification of administrative positions. At the same time, the position of assistant to the plenipotentiary representative is included in the list of positions of the third classification.

After the adoption of the amendments, the law "On Civil Service" does not apply to the plenipotentiary representative and his deputies. The salary grade of the said persons, taking into account their length of service, will be determined by the relevant executive authority in accordance with Article 33-4.3 of the same law.
