The international community expressed full support for Azerbaijan after the Iranian drone attack on Nakhchivan
On March 5, 2026, unmanned aerial vehicles launched from the territory of Iran struck the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. As a result of the attack, civilian infrastructure was damaged, and there were injuries among the population.
Azerbaijan regarded this attack as a gross violation of international law, filed an official protest with the Iranian side, and reserved the right to retaliatory measures.
The reaction of the international community followed immediately. Countries around the world and international organizations issued statements in support of Azerbaijan's sovereignty, and broad solidarity was demonstrated through diplomatic channels. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan expressed gratitude to all partner countries for the messages of support, phone calls, and official statements received.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan additionally noted the following:
"We express our sincere gratitude for the statements of support, letters, and phone calls received from our international partners following the Iranian drone attack on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. We highly appreciate the solidarity demonstrated with Azerbaijan, the open support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of the borders of our country. We thank all states and international organizations that stood by Azerbaijan during this period and highly value their continuous support and cooperation."
Following the incident, various international organizations and diplomatic missions issued statements condemning the attack;
foreign ministers and diplomatic representatives of several countries contacted the Azerbaijani side, expressing solidarity;
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan received official letters and phone calls;
on social media, especially on the X platform, numerous state officials published messages of support and solidarity.

These contacts demonstrate that Azerbaijan is perceived as an important geopolitical actor in the region, and the diplomatic ties of the country's leadership enable the formation of broad support at the international level.
