The fifth day of WUF13 concluded in Baku
The results of the fifth day of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), taking place in Baku, have been summed up.
As Oxu.Az reports, discussions on the most pressing issues of global urbanism were held today.
Throughout the day, participants discussed a wide range of topics, including "Developing Azerbaijan's First National Sustainability Standard: Sustainable Practices Standard," "The Central Role of Housing in Post-Crisis Recovery and Reconstruction," "A New Deal for Housing Finance," as well as "Strengthening the Capacity of Climate-Resilient Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Projects for Cities," and others.
Azerbaijan's Presidential Representative on Climate Issues Mukhtar Babayev, in a video address at the event "Developing Azerbaijan's First National Sustainability Standard: Sustainable Practices Standard (SPS)," said that WUF13 demonstrates Azerbaijan's priorities in sustainable urbanization, environmental responsibility, and climate change resilience.
First Deputy Minister of Finance Anar Karimov emphasized within the framework of the forum that Azerbaijan is restoring the territories liberated from occupation, with more than 10 billion dollars allocated for housing construction in this direction.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husev, at the event "Rebuilding Homes and Futures: Urban Revival in Kharkiv," expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for the support provided.
Housing policy and local cooperation were also discussed within the framework of WUF13.
Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Kalbajar district Bashir Hajiyev spoke at the panel "The Path from Urbicide to Post-Conflict Recovery," held at the Azerbaijan pavilion within the framework of WUF13.
During his speech, he stated that design work for five villages of the Kalbajar district has been completed.
He also added that since 2020, 222 thousand square meters of territory in Kalbajar have been cleared of mines.

It should be recalled that the forum began its work on May 17, and on May 18, the official opening ceremony was held, at which President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev spoke. Baku became the first city in the South Caucasus to host an event of this scale, highlighting Azerbaijan's growing role on the international stage.
WUF13 is jointly organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Government of Azerbaijan.
The forum, dedicated to the theme "Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements," will continue its work until May 22.
