Secretary General of GUAM sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev

GUAM Secretary General Altai Efendiev sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to AZERTAG, the message states:

"Your Excellency.

On behalf of the International Secretariat of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM, I extend to you and through you to the people of Azerbaijan my most sincere congratulations on the historic success related to the achievement of an agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, allowing the establishment of a just and lasting peace throughout the region.

The initialing of the peace agreement between the two countries in Washington, at the White House, in the presence and witness of the President of the United States is an important success achieved thanks to Azerbaijan's diplomacy under your leadership. Undoubtedly, this event will bring new dynamics to the processes in the region, reshaping the geopolitical balance, as well as giving impetus to international peace and cooperation and strengthening them.

This significant success on the path to peace became possible only after the glorious Victory of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the liberation of the occupied lands, the complete restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country within its internationally recognized borders.

We also believe that this is your personal victory as a wise Leader and outstanding statesman. We wish you success in your activities for peace in turbulent and complex international conditions.

We highly appreciate your principled position, determination and tireless efforts in supporting the struggle of GUAM member states to protect their independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty. As a regional organization, we are, as always, ready to support your policy aimed at ensuring peace, stability, cooperation and prosperity in the Black Sea and Caspian regions.

Your Excellency, once again, please accept our sincere congratulations on this significant event, and we wish you success in the further implementation of the peace agenda. And to the Azerbaijani people, we wish peace, progress and prosperity".
