President of Azerbaijan received President of the OSCE PA
On September 3, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Pere Joan Pons Sampietro.
As reported by AZERTAC, noting that one of the conflicts existing in the OSCE area has been resolved and sustainable peace has been ensured in the region, the guest congratulated the head of our state on the achievements in the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Thanking for the congratulations, the head of state regretfully emphasized that the OSCE Minsk Group, which had been responsible for the settlement of the conflict for nearly 30 years, had not achieved any results in the negotiation process, and the UN Security Council resolutions demanding the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from the territory of Azerbaijan had never been implemented.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan itself put an end to the conflict through military-political means, ensuring its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
During the conversation, satisfaction was expressed with Azerbaijan's contacts and political dialogue with the OSCE PA, in contrast to some European parliamentary institutions.
The importance of demonstrating a balanced approach to the entire OSCE area in the agenda of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was emphasized.
During the meeting, issues of intercultural dialogue were discussed, and Azerbaijan's role and contribution to this process were noted with satisfaction.
Touching upon the significance of the 4th International Conference on Mine Action being held in Baku under the theme "Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Best Practice Standards for Ensuring the Safety of Populated Areas," the OSCE PA President noted that the mine problem is also on the agenda of the structure he leads.
