President of Azerbaijan: Both during "Eurovision" and during COP we faced unjustified criticism
Both during "Eurovision" and during COP we faced unjustified criticism.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, answering questions from business representatives from various countries at an event called "Breakfast with Azerbaijan's leadership" as part of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Noting that there was especially much unjustified criticism regarding COP29, the head of state said: "Especially regarding COP, we were accused of being an oil-producing country and, as an oil-producing country, not having the right to host such a conference. Although both before and after Azerbaijan, it was hosted by countries that produce much more oil than Azerbaijan. But the issue was specifically about us, and I said that it is not our fault that we have oil. Don't blame us for that. We should be evaluated by how we manage oil fields and how fairly we distribute oil revenues in society".
