President of Azerbaijan: All our policy is both socially oriented and investment-oriented
All our policy is both socially oriented and investment-oriented. There must be a very sensitive balance between these two directions.
As reported by AZERTAG, on January 5, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this in an interview with local TV channels.
Emphasizing that Azerbaijan, while implementing economic reforms and oil and gas projects, primarily directed the resulting revenues to the social sphere, the head of state noted: "During the occupation period, our main expenses went to military-related costs, then there were education expenses, followed by expenses designated for internally displaced persons. That is, during the occupation period, we provided more than 300,000 displaced persons with new houses and apartments, and more than 100 new settlements were built."
Noting that violations and injustices that existed in this sphere at one time are being eliminated and a transparent mechanism is being applied, the President of Azerbaijan said: "This has allowed us to implement several serious packages of social reforms. More specifically, over the past seven years, 5 packages of social reforms have been implemented. They cover 4 million people, and the amount of funds directed to their implementation is approximately 8 billion manats."
