President Ilham Aliyev raised the topic of UN reforms at the opening of the IV Shusha Global Media Forum
During his speech at the IV Shusha Global Media Forum, President Ilham Aliyev also addressed the issue of reforms in the United Nations.
As reported by AZERTAC, noting that Azerbaijan is called upon to play its role in this matter, the head of state said: "As the chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, we have put forward our own version of reforms. After all, reform must be comprehensive and representative. Our proposal is that the Non-Aligned Movement should be given one permanent seat on a rotational basis, with the possibility for the chair of the Movement to hold veto power. Another seat should be allocated to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, since Muslim countries are not represented in the organization. This seat should also be occupied on a rotational basis. Finally, another seat should be allocated to the African Union, which should be represented by the acting chair of the Union at the time. Now that would be a fair approach in the Security Council."
