Population Census Preparations for 2029 Discussed in the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan

A meeting was held at the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Ali Asadov, at which issues related to organizing the population census scheduled for 2029 were discussed.

The meeting participants discussed the tasks outlined in the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated July 7, 2026 on conducting the population census of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the progress of preparatory activities.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the census as a key tool for obtaining the most comprehensive data on the population, essential for analyzing demographic trends and planning the socio-economic development of the state.

It was noted that the 2029 census will be the first in the history of independent Azerbaijan to be conducted across the entire sovereign territory of the country following the restoration of its territorial integrity.

According to available information, the census is expected to be carried out using digital technologies, administrative registers, and geospatial data.

A Central Commission for Facilitating the Population Census will be established to coordinate the preparatory process.
