Pashinyan and Putin discussed problems in Armenian-Russian economic ties over the phone

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed problems in Armenian-Russian economic relations during a telephone conversation.

This was reported by the office of the Armenian Prime Minister.

Pashinyan emphasized that restrictions on the export of goods of Armenian origin to the Russian market contradict the Armenian-Russian legal framework and the provisions of the Eurasian Economic Union. He also called for measures to be taken to resolve these issues.

The statement says that the Armenian Prime Minister emphasized the government's readiness to resolve these issues through open, partnership-based, and friendly dialogue.

In addition, Pashinyan raised the issue of holding a referendum on the country's accession to the EU. Holding a referendum is possible only after Armenia submits an official application for EU membership.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin press service reported that the telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Armenian side, and "the necessity was emphasized of holding a nationwide referendum in Armenia as soon as possible on accession to the EU or continued membership in the EurAsEC."
