A special program dedicated to the Washington summit between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, held with the mediation of President Donald Trump, was aired on the well-known US news channel Newsmax.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the US, Khazar Ibrahim, was the guest of the program.

The program extensively discussed the significance of the White House meeting, its regional and global importance, as well as Washington's role in mediation.

The program host Rob Esperino noted that the signed document is an important milestone not only for the South Caucasus but also for international security and cooperation in general.

In his speech, H. Ibrahim emphasized that the meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, initiated by D. Trump in one of the world's most authoritative political centers, has great symbolic and political significance.

According to him, thanks to the leadership and mediating mission of the US President, negotiations that had not yielded results for many years quickly transitioned into a phase of real progress.

"This was a historic moment..."

The diplomat added that this document opens up great opportunities for peace and cooperation.

"This happened in the number one capital in the world under the leadership of peacemaker Trump. Now doors, windows, and hearts are open for establishing real peace in the region; conditions have been created for integration not only with neighbors but with the entire world," he emphasized.

The ambassador noted that against the backdrop of a more than 30-year conflict, occupation of territories, ethnic cleansing, and mines that prevented hundreds of thousands of displaced persons from returning to their homes, international mediation efforts - especially in the OSCE format - remained fruitless. According to him, the result achieved by the White House administration in a short time became a real "diplomatic miracle."

H. Ibrahim emphasized that direct negotiations had a positive impact on the peace process: "Direct dialogue between leaders is important. The participation of such a decisive and experienced leader as Donald Trump successfully completed this process."

Azerbaijan – an open and tolerant country

During the program, the host reminded that Azerbaijan is an open and tolerant country which, despite having a Muslim majority population, provides equal rights to women and non-Muslims, and borders both Russia and Iran while being a close partner of the US and Israel.

Continuing this thought, H. Ibrahim noted that Azerbaijan's motto has always been cooperation, not confrontation.

"Israel is our good friend. Azerbaijan is home to the second oldest Jewish community in the world. We have historically lived in harmony with Jews, Christians, and other communities. There has never been confrontation between religious communities in Azerbaijan," he explained.

The diplomat added that Azerbaijan exports energy resources to Israel and closely cooperates in areas such as economy, technology, and agriculture.

"President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize"

The host recalled that the US President has initiated peace efforts not only in the South Caucasus but also in Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Thailand, and Cambodia, as well as attempted to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and asked whether he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

H. Ibrahim stated that D. Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for taking important steps to establish peace in a short time, including in the South Caucasus.

"This is not a personal opinion, but logic. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to those who bring peace. Donald Trump has taken important steps in a short time to establish peace in various regions of the planet, including the South Caucasus. As President Ilham Aliyev said, D. Trump brings peace not only to the South Caucasus but to all corners of the world. Therefore, it is obvious that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize," the ambassador concluded.
