New draft agreement on minerals between Ukraine and the USA

Member of the Verkhovna Rada Yaroslav Zhelezniak has reviewed a document which, according to him, is a new draft agreement on minerals between Ukraine and the USA.

According to Zhelezniak, the document covers all minerals, including oil and gas, throughout the entire territory of Ukraine. The agreement will be valid indefinitely, and changes to it can only be made with the consent of the American side.

Zhelezniak claims that the management of extraction will be in the hands of five people, three of whom are from the USA with full veto power. The USA will also have the right of first night on new infrastructure projects and veto power on the sale of resources to other countries.

Money from the joint fund, which will manage the development of minerals, will be withdrawn abroad if the Ukrainian side fails to make full payments. US aid already provided since 2022 will be counted as payment.

Zhelezniak called the text he saw "horrifying" and noted that this is not the final document. He hopes that the Ukrainian side will demand and achieve significant changes to it.
