Leading Moldovan news portal Noi.md published an article featuring key quotes from the interview of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev to local TV channels.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the article, published in Romanian and Russian languages, contains President Ilham Aliyev's thoughts about Azerbaijan's growing role in energy supply. It is noted that Azerbaijan is increasing gas exports both in volume and geographical coverage. Azerbaijan today and for many years has been an irreplaceable partner for European consumers, and its role as a reliable supplier in terms of energy security will only increase.

Further in the article, referencing the head of our state, it is emphasized that Azerbaijan currently supplies gas to 14 countries, 11 of which - on a regular basis. In general, the geographical coverage of pipeline gas from Azerbaijan comprises 14 countries, and this year two more European countries will be added to them. Thus, in total there will be 16, and this is the largest number for pipeline gas supplies. No country in the world supplies pipeline gas to as many countries as Azerbaijan. Last year, Azerbaijan's gas exports amounted to more than 25 billion cubic meters with growth potential, and there are two sources for growth: renewable energy sources and new production from existing or new fields. The article states that Azerbaijan expects new gas production from the deep-water part of the "Azeri - Chirag - Gunashli" field. A lot of oil is extracted from this field, but it also has large gas reserves located at great depths, which is why it is called deep-water gas. It is expected that in the coming years, "Shahdeniz" will start a new stage, which is called "Shahdeniz Compression," and this will provide additional gas volume. Another promising field is "Babek," which is very large and has significant potential, and there are a number of companies interested in investing in it. Certainly, a field that can be considered comparable in size to "Shahdeniz" is "Absheron."

"Currently, it is in the first phase of production, and we are buying the extracted gas for local consumption. The second phase of 'Absheron' will give us, possibly, three times more gas than today. So there will be more gas for the markets," the article says.

The publication also contains other opinions of President Ilham Aliyev about Azerbaijan's energy policy.
