MFA: Armenia is trying to portray Azerbaijan as a country not interested in peace

The Armenian side, instead of trying to eliminate the problems that hinder the signing of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, engages in manipulations, trying to present Azerbaijan as a country not interested in peace.
This is stated in the commentary of the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizade, regarding the statements of the RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, voiced at a joint press conference with his Brazilian counterpart Maura Vieira.
Hajizade reminded that it was Armenia that initiated the aggressive war against Azerbaijan, subjected all Azerbaijanis on its territory and on Azerbaijani lands to ethnic cleansing, which it kept under occupation for almost 30 years:
"Azerbaijan has never pursued an occupation policy against Armenia and was not interested in creating a situation that turns the region into a zone of confrontation. Even Minister Mirzoyan's statement that Armenia agreed to accept the latest version of the peace treaty draft and opened the way to complete the negotiations is proof that this country has been hindering the process for the past two and a half years. It was Azerbaijani diplomacy and the measures we took that made it possible to complete the negotiations on the text of the peace treaty," Hajizade noted.
The Foreign Ministry representative also emphasized that Azerbaijan does not intend to put up with the territorial claims against Azerbaijan that remain in the Armenian constitution, as well as attempts by this country to preserve the OSCE Minsk Group and its various structures.
