First Vice-President, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, her daughters Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva familiarized themselves with the project of the Ganja Memorial Complex, being built to perpetuate the memory of civilians killed as a result of missile attacks by the Armenian armed forces on the city of Ganja in 2020.
As reported by AZERTAG, the foundation of the complex was laid on January 30, 2022, by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The Memorial Complex territory will cover 4 hectares. The museum building in the complex will be two-storied. The main exhibition hall will be located on the lower floor. From here, there will be access to the open area of the complex, which will extend along a spiral wall symbolizing the missile's trace on the ground.
The upper floor will house a multifunctional space for various events. The complex territory will also contain preserved debris from buildings that were hit by missile strikes.
The construction of the Ganja Memorial Complex is planned to be completed by the end of 2025.
Recall that during the Patriotic War, the Armenian armed forces attacked Ganja on October 4, 5, 8, 11, and 17 using Tochka-U, Smerch, SCAD, and other missile systems. As a result, 26 civilians were killed, and 142 civilians were wounded.
