The "Margara" checkpoint on the Armenia-Turkey border will open on March 1.

Armenian media report this, citing a diplomatic source.

According to the press, border guards from the National Security Service will be stationed at the checkpoint on the Armenian side.

The possibility of launching the border checkpoint was first announced in July 2024 following a meeting between the special representatives of the two countries - Serdar Kilic and Ruben Rubinyan, which took place at the checkpoint. The Armenian side had previously renovated and re-equipped the checkpoint, spending almost $2.5 million on it.

In July 2022, an agreement was reached in Vienna, Austria, to enable third-country citizens visiting Armenia and Turkey to cross the Armenian-Turkish land border, as well as to implement direct air cargo transportation and launch the necessary processes for this.
