Macron: Europe must be ready to deploy forces to protect Ukraine after peace

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Europe's future should not be decided in Washington or Moscow, and the threat from Russia is returning to the east. He emphasized that the serenity of the past 30 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall has ended, and Russia has become a direct threat to France and Europe.

"Who can believe that today's Russia will stop at Ukraine? We must be ready for long-term support of the Ukrainian army," Macron declared.

The French President reminded about the importance of nuclear deterrence, which has been ensuring the country's security since 1964. However, according to him, to maintain stability in Europe, it is necessary to open strategic debates about protecting allies on the continent.

Macron emphasized that peace cannot be achieved at any cost and especially not under Russia's dictation. According to him, Europe must not allow Ukraine's capitulation or its collapse. He also did not rule out the possibility of deploying European forces after signing a peace agreement to guarantee its implementation.

"These forces will not go to fight on the frontline, but they will be there to ensure the implementation of the peace treaty," added the French leader.
