Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, head of the IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva visited the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum on December 29.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to AZERTAJ, the guest was met by the director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum Amina Melikova and artist Emil Aziz.

During her visit to the museum, Leyla Aliyeva first familiarized herself with Emil Aziz's personal exhibition "Pattern and Silhouette" presented at the museum. The exposition brings together about 50 works in which the author addresses the rich heritage of Azerbaijani carpet, reinterpreting traditional ornaments in modern artistic language. A special place in the works is occupied by images of Karabakh horses and women's portraits, where movement, strength, and plasticity of silhouette organically combine with the rhythm and structure of carpet motifs. It was noted that the exhibition will last until January 12.

Then the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva viewed the retrospective exhibition of the Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Faig Ahmed "Faig Ahmed: 2011-2024." The exposition covers the key stages of the author's work and demonstrates his innovative approach to traditional Azerbaijani carpet, in which classical weaving combines with modern artistic thinking, philosophy, and current visual practices. It was emphasized that Faig Ahmed's works are widely represented in leading museums and collections around the world and enjoy international recognition.

She also familiarized herself with the exposition dedicated to Latif Kerimov - an outstanding artist, scientist, researcher, and founder of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum. Leyla Aliyeva was provided with information that 2026 will mark the 120th anniversary of the birth of Latif Kerimov, who played a key role in the formation of the scientific school of Azerbaijani carpet studies and in the institutionalization of carpet as a crucial phenomenon of national culture.

Latif Kerimov is a People's Artist of Azerbaijan, laureate of state and international awards, author of fundamental scientific works, creator of unique carpet compositions and sketches, many of which have become iconic for national art. Leyla Aliyeva familiarized herself with carpets authored by Latif Kerimov, his original sketches, as well as archival materials.

Additionally, Leyla Aliyeva examined the updated exhibition on the third floor of the museum, which presents contemporary author carpets and works of decorative and applied art. Among the authors of the exposition are Eldar Mikailzade, Eldar Hajiyev, Samira Allahverdiyeva, Chingiz Babayev, Tariel Bashirov, Ali Pariyaba, as well as other masters of modern Azerbaijani carpet weaving.

The updated exhibition on the third floor also presents previously undisplayed works. Along with unique carpet samples, rare works from the 1970s-1980s in the fields of ceramics, wood carving, batik, tapestry, art glass, as well as other areas of decorative and applied arts are exhibited here.

Leyla Aliyeva's visit to this cultural center emphasized the significant role of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum as a center for preservation, study, and actualization of national carpet art, combining historical heritage and modern artistic processes.
