Leyla Aliyeva held a meeting with the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC
On June 15, Leyla Aliyeva held a meeting in the German city of Bonn with the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Simon Stiell.
As reported by BAKU.WS, during the meeting, information was provided on the measures implemented by Azerbaijan in the field of environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and ensuring environmental sustainability. In this regard, attention was also drawn to the projects and initiatives of the IDEA Public Association in the mentioned areas, including biodiversity enrichment, environmental awareness activities, as well as efforts aimed at protecting rare fauna species and restoring ecosystems.
At the same time, the importance of expanding the area of protected natural territories and their role in mitigating the consequences of climate change was noted.
During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for jointly studying the causes of the declining Caspian Sea level, as well as the environmental and socio-economic consequences of this process. In this context, the importance of broader reflection of this issue in the global climate agenda was emphasized.
In addition, opportunities for implementing joint initiatives with the UNFCCC were discussed with the aim of enhancing environmental responsibility among youth, as well as expanding their knowledge about the environment and climate change.
