On June 30, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva visited Azəripək OJSC, which is one of the oldest industrial enterprises in Azerbaijan and a key symbol of the national sericulture industry.

As reported by BAKU.WS, Leyla Aliyeva was provided with detailed information about the enterprise's activities.

It was noted that Azəripək OJSC holds particular strategic importance for the implementation of the consistent state policy carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev aimed at preserving national cultural heritage, developing traditional crafts, strengthening the non-oil sector, and promoting the Made in Azerbaijan brand internationally. The enterprise, with a history spanning over a century, operates under the State Service for Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and remains the only combine in the country that produces natural silk to this day.

Azəripək OJSC is not only a manufacturing enterprise but also a strategic industrial complex that fulfills an important mission of preserving and passing on to future generations the rich traditions of sericulture, national crafts, and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. Remaining true to the principles of production based on environmentally clean, fully natural raw materials, the enterprise contributes to the development of the green economy and worthily represents Azerbaijani silk in global markets.

It was noted that thanks to the activities of Azəripək OJSC, thousands of sericulture farmers in more than 40 districts of Azerbaijan are engaged in cocoon farming, and the enterprise itself employs over 400 workers. The enterprise makes an important contribution to increasing employment in the regions, developing agriculture, and building a sustainable value chain in the sericulture sector.

During the visit, Leyla Aliyeva toured the cocoon processing workshop, the weaving workshop, and the studio where the national art of creating kelaghayi, inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is carefully preserved. She closely familiarized herself with all stages of natural Azerbaijani silk production and the process of preserving and developing ancient craft traditions using modern technologies.

Leyla Aliyeva had a heartfelt conversation with the enterprise's employees, highly praised their professionalism and their work in preserving national sericulture traditions, and took a commemorative photo with the team.

In conclusion, Leyla Aliyeva was presented with a kelaghayi as a gift.

This visit, being yet another demonstration of high attention and respect for Azerbaijan's national heritage, the sericulture industry, and the activities of Azəripək OJSC with its century-old traditions, is regarded as a vivid example of the importance attached in our country to the development of national production, environmentally clean products, and traditional crafts.
