On March 8, the opening ceremony of the Her Art in Action festival, 2026 edition, took place at Gazelli Art House. On the first day of the festival, as part of the collaboration between the VarYox art and culture platform and the Baku-based Gazelli Art House gallery, the exhibition "A House with a View of the Landscape" was presented. The exposition also included paintings by Leyla Aliyeva.

As reported by BAKU.WS, Leyla Aliyeva participated in the exhibition and viewed the displayed works.

Leyla Aliyeva was informed that the Her Art in Action festival is an annual program created and implemented by the VarYox art and culture platform. It is dedicated to promoting gender equality in the field of art, enhancing cultural inclusivity, and strengthening Azerbaijan's international cultural participation. This year, the festival, which will run from March to May, will take place over three months at various venues in Baku.

It was noted that Her Art in Action, held for three consecutive years, is a unique festival dedicated to women's creativity and cross-cultural exchange in the region. The project actively brings together women from Azerbaijan and countries across the region, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Georgia, Egypt, as well as the Balkan region, Spain, and Lithuania.

The theme "A House with a View of the Landscape" considers the home not as a static space but as a shifting state shaped through women's experiences. Going beyond everyday life, the theme explores how women create, define, defend, and reclaim space in the tension between public and private life, visibility and solitude, belonging and resistance.

As part of the event, the birthday of a martyr's mother was celebrated, to whom Leyla Aliyeva presented a gift.

Exhibition participants also gifted Leyla Aliyeva their handmade works.

In conclusion, Leyla Aliyeva visited the memorial corner of the founder and president of Gazelli Group, Zarifa Hamzayeva.

The curator of this year's edition of the festival, multimedia artist Sitara Ibrahimbeyli, noted that the opening of the first exhibition, held on March 8, featured works by 27 local and international artists: "For the third year now, we have been opening the festival on March 8. There will be three openings in total. In April, a joint exhibition will be organized, created based on the dialogue between students of Boarding School with Integrated Education No. 11 (Bilgah) and renowned contemporary artists. The third project will take place in Icherisheher in the format of an open-air photo evening. In total, works by more than 50 artists will be presented over three months."

Independent artist Kafiya Eyvazova is participating in the festival this year with the work "A View from the Window." "I have been participating in the festival for three years, and for the first time I am presenting a work in carpet technique. The piece is woven in pile carpet technique and calls on people to reflect on the structure of the family. Here, it may seem that the male motifs appear to protect the female ones, but in fact they restrict them. Gradually, the woman's facial features disappear, because restriction pushes a person's identity into the background and makes it invisible. The work calls on our society to value women, listen to them, and not restrict their freedom," she said.

The festival will conclude on May 31.
