Jeyhun Bayramov spoke at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS
Azerbaijan remains committed to the principles of good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation with all CIS member states.
As Report was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, this was stated by the head of the ministry, Jeyhun Bayramov, at a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in Turkmenistan.
The minister wished Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov success in connection with his country's upcoming chairmanship of the Commonwealth. He also expressed the Azerbaijani side's readiness to provide the necessary support in achieving the set objectives.
In his speech, Bayramov emphasized that against the backdrop of growing global tensions, adherence to the fundamental norms and principles of international law is of particular importance. According to him, cooperation between countries based on mutual respect and consideration of interests is an important factor for regional stability, security, and sustainable development.
Noting the 35th anniversary of the CIS's establishment and the 20th anniversary of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation, the minister highlighted the role of the Commonwealth as a platform for equal dialogue and multilateral interaction.
Bayramov also drew attention to the important place of humanitarian cooperation on the CIS agenda and the significance of the Plan of Priority Activities for 2027-2028, which includes more than 200 events.
He noted that the III CIS Games held in Azerbaijan and events in Lachin within the framework of the "CIS Cultural Capital 2025" status made a significant contribution to cooperation in the fields of culture, youth, and sports across the Commonwealth.
The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of trade, economic, and transport cooperation with CIS member states.
Bayramov pointed to the positive dynamics of trade turnover. He also noted the consistent development of the East-West and North-South international transport corridors, as well as port and railway infrastructure, thanks to Azerbaijan's advantageous geographical location and large-scale investments in infrastructure.
According to him, these steps will help fully realize the transit and economic potential of the region.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on a number of multilateral and regional issues of mutual interest. The participants also reviewed draft decisions planned to be adopted at the level of heads of state and government.
