Jeyhun Bayramov discussed regional security and the peace process with Armenia with Radmila Shekerinska
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska during her visit to Baku.
As reported to BAKU.WS by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the negotiations, the parties particularly discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, existing mechanisms of interaction, as well as issues of regional and international security.
The meeting participants emphasized the importance of the partnership between Azerbaijan and NATO, noting that dialogue and practical cooperation in existing formats make a positive contribution to strengthening regional security. In this context, opportunities for expanding cooperation in the areas of demining, cybersecurity, and other directions were considered.
The NATO delegation highly appreciated Azerbaijan's participation in the alliance's peacekeeping operations and missions, including in Afghanistan, as well as the defense reforms being carried out in the country. The parties also expressed satisfaction with the visit of the mission of NATO permanent representatives to Azerbaijan that took place in November last year.
During the meeting, the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, diplomatic efforts to ensure sustainable and long-term peace in the region, confidence-building measures, as well as agreements reached at the Washington Summit on August 8 last year were also discussed. Special attention was paid to the prospects of regional transport and communication projects.
