# In Abu Dhabi, a meeting took place between Ilham Aliyev and the President of the United Arab Emirates

On February 2, a meeting took place in Abu Dhabi between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

As reported by AZERTAC, during the conversation it was emphasized that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the UAE are based on strategic partnership, satisfaction was expressed with the development of cooperation between the two countries in all spheres, including in political, economic, energy, including renewable energy, cultural, humanitarian and other areas, the importance of mutual visits of both presidents to Azerbaijan and the UAE, their meetings for expanding ties was noted.

At the meeting, the significance of the joint operational-tactical exercises "Shield of Peace - 2026", conducted in Abu Dhabi by the armed forces (AF) of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates, was touched upon, confidence was expressed that they will contribute to the development of operational military compatibility between the AF of the two countries, and the importance of their continuation in the future was emphasized.

The heads of state exchanged views on the prospects of relations and further contacts.

Then, with the participation of the presidents of Azerbaijan and the UAE, a document was signed regarding a purchase and sale agreement related to the sale to the investment division of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company - XRG company of a certain part of the non-controlling stake of the Ministry of Economy in CJSC "Southern Gas Corridor".

It should be noted that as part of the visit, a letter of intent was also signed on a cooperation agreement in the defense sphere between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates.

The presidents of Azerbaijan and the UAE expressed confidence that these documents will give impetus to the further development of relations between the two countries.

During the conversation, issues of establishing sister city relations between Baku and Abu Dhabi were also discussed.
