Ilham Aliyev: We must ensure that the continuous and sustainable energy supply to Nakhchivan is not disrupted

On August 11, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to Azerbaijan Television during his trip to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

During the conversation, the head of state spoke in detail about the Nakhchivan Industrial Park, the foundation of which was laid on the same day.

"Today the foundation of the Nakhchivan Industrial Park was laid. By my decree, many industrial parks have been established in Azerbaijan, and among them the Nakhchivan Industrial Park is second only to the Sumgayit one in terms of its territory. As I already said, the foundation has been laid, and I am confident that practical work will begin in this industrial park soon.

At the same time, as an integral part of this park, a thermal power plant with a capacity of 300 MW will be built. I should note that today Nakhchivan's generating capacity is about 200 MW. This station alone will increase it by 1.5 times. Naturally, this station has two purposes: the first is to provide the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with a constant energy supply, and the second is export matters," President Ilham Aliyev noted.
