Today we also discussed in detail the possibilities of cooperation in the field of agriculture between our countries. The co-chairs of the Joint Economic Commission are the ministers of agriculture of both countries. Of course, this will remain one of the priorities for our government, given that more than 40% of our population lives in rural areas.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on April 22 in a press statement with President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, who is in our country on an official visit.

"Infrastructure has been created, as well as business opportunities in the regions. Of course, they differ from business opportunities in the capital. Therefore, agriculture, tourism, and water resource management — all of these are projects that state and private companies are implementing in Azerbaijan, and I believe that these opportunities will also be of interest to Latvian investors.

In addition, the Alat free economic zone offers quality services, supported by very investment-friendly legislation, which has already made it possible to attract significant volumes of foreign investment there. Although today it is obvious that attracting foreign investment is not an easy task. I believe that the legal framework, as well as the proximity to the main commercial seaport and the railway, make the Alat free economic zone attractive," noted the President of Azerbaijan.
