Ilham Aliyev sent a letter to Erdogan in connection with the 3rd anniversary of the earthquake in Kahramanmaras

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a letter of condolence to President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the message states:

"Dear Mr. President,

Dear Brother,

Three years have passed since the earthquake that deeply shook the brotherly Republic of Turkey. With great respect and reverence, I honor the blessed memory of those who died as a result of this terrible tragedy.

This disaster became a serious humanitarian ordeal for Turkey. In one night, thousands of people perished, many cities and settlements were destroyed. Watching with deep pain what was happening in those days, the Azerbaijani people perceived the grief of brotherly Turkey as their own, shared its sorrow.

The unshakable brotherhood that lies at the foundation of Azerbaijani-Turkish relations manifested its true essence precisely in such a difficult moment. From the first moments of the tragedy, the Azerbaijani state and society, remaining faithful to the principles of unity and solidarity, stood by Turkey, extended a helping and supporting hand to it.

Thanks to effective state governance under Your wise leadership and the unity of the people, Turkey has by now achieved substantial results in eliminating the consequences of the earthquake. The implementation of large-scale reconstruction work in the affected regions, the creation of modern residential infrastructure, and the restoration of social welfare are clear indicators of Turkey's long-term development strategy.

As a manifestation of our brotherly duty, Azerbaijan contributed to the construction and reconstruction work in Kahramanmaraş province, actively participated in laying the foundation there of the "Azerbaijani Quarter." Azerbaijan's support for the brotherly country's efforts in reconstruction and construction work is a clear expression of our friendly and allied relations.

I am confident that the strong Azerbaijani-Turkish unity and strategic alliance, based on the philosophy of "One nation, two states," will continue to contribute to the prosperity of our peoples and serve to ensure regional stability, security, and sustainable development.

On this commemorative day, I once again express with deep sorrow my condolences to You, to the families of the deceased, and to the entire brotherly Turkish people, and I pray to Almighty Allah for the repose of the souls of our departed brothers and sisters".
