Ilham Aliyev: Our short-term plans - to obtain 8 GW of energy
A map of solar and wind power plants, both on land and at sea, including on liberated lands, has been approved.
As reported by AZERTAG, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this on January 5 in an interview with local TV channels.
"Currently, our main task is to expand the capacity to receive energy resources. Because, according to existing plans, 6,000 MW of solar, wind and hydropower will be integrated into our system by 2030, and 8,000 MW by 2032. That is, in order to accept this, we need to strengthen our energy system. This is called Energy Grid," the head of state noted.
President Ilham Aliyev said that battery energy storage systems must be built in parallel with this: "At the initial stage, we approached foreign companies to do this work as investors. But we saw that there is not much interest. That is, the first batteries with a capacity of about 250 MW have already been installed through the state line, but there will be more. Because, I repeat, our short-term plans are to get 8 GW of energy."
