On May 17, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliana Yotova.

As reported by AZERTAG, the distinguished guest fondly recalled her meeting with the President of Azerbaijan during the Munich Security Conference in February of this year and the discussions held during it.

The President of Bulgaria regarded the holding of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Azerbaijan, dedicated to a topical theme amid the wars and conflicts taking place in the world, as a major event. She emphasized that Bulgaria is represented at this event by the head of state, as well as the leaders of more than 10 different municipalities of the country, and the mayor of the city of Veliko Tarnovo, which is a sister city of the city of Shusha.

Noting that the session of the World Urban Forum is an important platform for discussing pressing issues in this field, the guest congratulated on the organization of the event in our country.

The head of our state expressed gratitude for the congratulations.

President Iliana Yotova emphasized the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria in the energy sector. In this context, she noted the significance of the "Solidarity Ring" project. Touching upon cultural and humanitarian ties, the President of Bulgaria highly appreciated the teaching of the Bulgarian language in Azerbaijan. She also noted the humanitarian projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Bulgaria, the sister city ties between Veliko Tarnovo and the city of Shusha, and the construction of "Shusha" park there.

Iliana Yotova once again expressed gratitude for the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's support in the restoration of the "Trapezitsa" Architectural-Museum Reserve in Bulgaria.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that the fruitful cooperation between our countries is strengthening on the basis of mutual respect and trust, and prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, including electricity exports, as well as in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and other areas were discussed.

Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria within the framework of international organizations was also addressed.

The heads of state exchanged views on issues of the bilateral agenda.
