Ilham Aliyev familiarized himself with the conditions created at the "Veten" sports lyceum after reconstruction

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev familiarized himself with the conditions created at the Tarlan Heybatov "Veten" Sports Lyceum in Baku after reconstruction.

As AZERTAJ reports, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev informed the head of state about the conditions created at the lyceum.

It was noted that the "Veten" Sports Lyceum, named after First Karabakh War martyr Tarlan Heybatov, was established in 2022 on the basis of secondary school number 126. Reconstruction works, carried out through state capital investments in the lyceum for 600 students, were completed in December 2024.

The completely renovated academic building of the lyceum has 22 classrooms equipped with necessary teaching aids. The building houses chemical, physical, and biological laboratories, computer science and pre-military training rooms, a library, a 240-seat assembly hall, administrative and auxiliary facilities. Internet connection, furniture, inventory, and other necessary equipment meet modern requirements.

In the sports building of the educational institution, a universal hall (for basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, fencing, etc.) and a wrestling hall have been completely renovated. Additionally, a gym, judo hall, physiotherapy room, sports rehabilitation hall, steam room, and auxiliary facilities have been reconstructed.

As part of the project, a 100-bed dormitory was also completely renovated. The lyceum's dining hall can accommodate 220 people. The kitchen, laundry, and other auxiliary facilities are also equipped with the most modern equipment.

It should be noted that the reconstructed lyceum provides education for grades V-XI. About 60 teachers are involved in the education and upbringing of students.

The dormitory is intended for professional athlete students coming from the regions. The lyceum will also provide meals for these athletes according to their daily dietary requirements.

Extensive landscaping work has been carried out in the courtyard of the educational institution.

In the modern world, the future of every country, including Azerbaijan, is determined by the level of education. The measures taken in our country in recent years for the development of education give grounds to say that Azerbaijan wants to see its future more reliable and confident. Moreover, Azerbaijan, which is in the center of world attention thanks to its rich natural resources, rationally uses the income from these resources, directing them to further development of human capital.

The conditions created at the "Veten" Sports Lyceum confirm that thanks to the attention of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, reforms in education continue successfully. Measures for construction of new schools and capital repairs and reconstruction of existing schools in the capital and regions are being implemented according to planned schedules. All this, first and foremost, opens up opportunities for students to receive quality education and gain deeper knowledge.
