Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov: Uzbekistan intends to grow olives and hazelnuts based on Azerbaijan's experience

In Uzbekistan, together with specialists from Azerbaijan, they are studying the possibilities of growing olives and hazelnuts.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov to the TV channel "Uzbekistan 24".

"More than 1,200 seedlings are already being tested in special gardens. Scientists are currently working on their adaptation to our (in Uzbekistan - ed.) climatic conditions," he said.

The minister noted that close cooperation has been established between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, and the relevant agencies interact on a practically daily basis.

He named the introduction of an agricultural risk insurance system as one of the key areas. According to him, Uzbekistan studied Azerbaijan's experience, adapted it to national conditions, and has already adopted the corresponding legislative norms.

"We are actively developing the export of fruit and vegetable products. Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover between the countries has grown by almost 70%. Trade houses have been opened in Baku, where we present Uzbek fruits, vegetables, and dried fruits. The Azerbaijani side is creating broad opportunities for this," Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov emphasized.

He noted that within the framework of the program for the restoration of Fuzuli and, in general, the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan is participating in the creation of a pomegranate garden with an area of 100 hectares.

"At the same time, a new project has been launched in the Namangan region to create a large garden, the products of which will be oriented toward the Azerbaijani market," the minister added.
