Historic meeting in Baku: first consular consultations between Azerbaijan and Syria held
On Monday, June 8, the first consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan were held in Baku.
This was reported by the foreign policy agency of our country.
According to the information, the Azerbaijani delegation at the consultations was headed by the Head of the Consular Department of the MFA Emil Safarov, and the Syrian delegation was led by his Syrian counterpart Mohammed Yaqoub al-Omar.
During the consultations, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Syria in the consular sphere were reviewed, as well as the possibilities of signing new bilateral documents in this area and the digitalization of consular services.
The parties exchanged data on the latest innovations implemented in the consular sphere, discussed issues of protecting the rights and interests of citizens of both countries, as well as the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens from Syria.
The Syrian side expressed interest in studying the Azerbaijani experience for the further development of consular services.
