The administration of US President Donald Trump has demonstrated commitment to Azerbaijan's peace agenda.

As BAKU.WS reports, this was stated by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev to The Washington Times newspaper.

In the publication's article dedicated to the peace-building process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, steps to repeal Section 907 in the US Congress, official Baku's relations with Moscow, Azerbaijan's ties with Israel, citing H.Hajiyev's words, it is noted that the US President's immediate response to the peace agenda deserves high appreciation.

At the same time, the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan emphasized that the very existence of Section 907 hinders peace:

"Both countries - Azerbaijan and Armenia - are working intensively to strengthen peace. However, some in Congress present completely unnecessary legislative acts that sow discrimination," Hajiyev noted.

He also stated that the Biden-Blinken Administration has damaged relations between Azerbaijan and the United States. The Presidential Assistant noted that US-Azerbaijani relations, which became warmer during Donald Trump's presidency, are in stark contrast to the previous Administration's approach:

"Unfortunately, with the Biden and Blinken Administration, there were many misunderstandings, and they caused serious damage to relations."

He recalled that under Biden, Section 907 was reinstated immediately after the completion of the mission in Afghanistan.

As an example of successful interaction with the Trump Administration, Hajiyev cited the decisive role played by the American leader's administration during his first term in the process of delivering Caspian gas to the European market through the Southern Gas Corridor.

Regarding Azerbaijan's attempts to establish economic relations with Armenia, Hajiyev noted the export of petroleum products to this country and the conditions created for grain transit to Armenia.

"This may seem symbolic, but beyond symbolism there are truly important geopolitical nuances. We are building peace not only with the Armenian government but also with the Armenian people," Hajiyev emphasized.

Emphasizing that Azerbaijan is a space of religious tolerance, the Presidential Assistant stated that the country is a natural partner of the West for cooperation in an unstable region:

"We have Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities living side by side for centuries. This is our tradition, this is our identity. We have an even stronger determination for our peace agenda, and we have the full support of the Trump Administration," he emphasized.
