Hikmet Hajiyev: Our media know how to adapt their activities to existing realities

Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Administration of the Head of State Hikmet Hajiyev congratulated journalists on the occasion of National Press Day.

As reported by BAKU.WS, he published the congratulations on his page on the social network X.

"Today our society celebrates yet another anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press. On July 22, 1875, the great educator Hasan bey Zardabi laid the foundation of our press, and the path of its development is a vivid example of genuine patriotism, devotion to the ideas of statehood, and a tireless struggle for national progress.

Starting from the mid-1990s, the media policy carried out under the leadership of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev created a solid foundation for ensuring freedom of speech and information, pluralism of opinions, as well as for the formation and development of strong, professional media in our country.

In the subsequent period, the successful continuation of the policy laid down by the great leader and the reforms consistently carried out in this direction ensured the development of our media in accordance with modern challenges and expanded their influence in the global information space.

During the 44-day Patriotic War, our media demonstrated a model of genuine patriotism and solidarity, playing a crucial role in conveying the voice of truth to the world community and in exposing information provocations directed against our country. President Ilham Aliyev, assessing the activities of Azerbaijani media, stated:

"Today our media have gained tremendous authority not only domestically but also on the international arena, and I say this with complete sincerity... Today Azerbaijani media are capable of defending state interests. They have achieved great success in exposing unfounded accusations against Azerbaijan through arguments, serious analysis, and based on facts. Our media not only defend state interests but also go on the offensive when necessary."

In a period when complex processes are unfolding in the world and our region, when wars and confrontations persist, Azerbaijan stands out with its security and development dynamics, continuing to expand its independent and principled policy and equal partnership ties with centers of power.

It is gratifying that our media know how to adapt their activities to existing realities, take into account modern trends in the global information space, and are distinguished by their activity in addressing such important issues determining development prospects as the introduction of advanced technologies, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and others.

We are confident that our media will continue to expand their positions in the global information space and at the same time, demonstrating loyalty to their principles of activity, will spare no effort to further strengthen patriotism and national solidarity in our society, to protect our national interests. I sincerely congratulate Azerbaijani media and our dear journalists on this professional holiday, wishing you health and success in your valuable work," the diplomat wrote.
