Hikmet Hajiyev: European Parliament Resolution on Azerbaijan Is a Diplomatic Disgrace
Politics 0

The European Parliament's resolution on Azerbaijan can be called a diplomatic disgrace.

As Report informs from Khankendi, this was stated to journalists by the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan – head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev.

He noted that such a policy of the European Parliament is regrettable. "The decisions adopted by the European Parliament hold no significance for the Republic of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has no obligations to this institution. The European Parliament also has no mandate to express a position on such matters," Hajiyev said.

In his opinion, this resolution creates obstacles to the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia:

"At a time when economic steps are being taken to build peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the adoption of such a decision one day after the visit of Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister to Armenia is nothing other than a diplomatic disgrace."

Hajiyev stated that these steps can be regarded as destructive, provocative, and as an attempt to once again drag the region into war.
