Head of government: Joint declaration emphasizes the importance of reliable connection with Nakhchivan

The joint declaration signed following the trilateral summit in Washington with the participation of the leaders of Azerbaijan, the USA, and Armenia demonstrates that the peace initiative put forward and promoted by Azerbaijan for many years has received broad international support and official recognition.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Prime Minister Ali Asadov at a special government meeting dedicated to the results of the President's visit to Washington.

"The joint declaration is not just a document concluding the years-long armed confrontation between the two countries, but also the result of the Azerbaijani people's struggle for historical justice, an expression of the political and diplomatic strength and international authority of our state," Asadov emphasized.

The Prime Minister noted that Azerbaijan, having independently implemented UN resolutions that for years remained only on paper, having restored justice through military means at the cost of the blood of its martyrs, has now become the author of a peace treaty with Armenia, putting a political end to the conflict.

One of the most important provisions of the Joint Declaration concerns the opening of transport and communication lines in the region. After the Patriotic War, President Ilham Aliyev repeatedly and firmly stated that unhindered land passage from the main part of Azerbaijan to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic must be ensured. Despite all difficulties, disagreements, and different positions, this requirement of the head of state was also accepted by the Armenian side," the head of government emphasized.

Ali Asadov added that the document signed in Washington clearly emphasizes the importance of unhindered and reliable connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

"For this purpose, a special infrastructure initiative supported by the USA - 'Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity' (TRIPP) - is envisaged. This will create significant changes not only for Azerbaijan but also on the economic and geopolitical map of the entire region," the Prime Minister noted.
