Haber Global: The bleeding wound of humanity - the Khojaly Genocide
Despite 34 years having passed since the Khojaly genocide, the pain of the tragedy is still as fresh as on the first day. A memorial event dedicated to the victims of the tragedy was held in the Kızılcahamam district of Ankara.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated in a report prepared by the Turkish television channel Haber Global in connection with the Khojaly tragedy.
"On February 26, 1992, one of the darkest pages in human history was written in the city of Khojaly in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. During the attack carried out by Armenian forces, civilians, including women, children, and elderly people, were mercilessly killed. According to official data, 613 people were killed. Among them were 106 women, 63 children, and 70 elderly people. 150 people went missing, and their families have been unable to find them, dead or alive, for years.
This atrocity, witnessed by the entire world, went down in history as an indelible stain," the channel's report stated.
In the broadcast, the Khojaly genocide was called "a bleeding wound of humanity."
After the speeches at the event, participants laid carnations at the memorial complex erected in memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide. Those present also visited the Khojaly Memorial Museum to honor the memory of the victims.
