Frank-Walter Steinmeier congratulated Ilham Aliyev

President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

As reported by AZERTAC, the message states:

"Dear Mr. President,

I convey my sincere congratulations to you and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of May 28 - Independence Day.

As I noted during our telephone conversation a few weeks ago, Germany is extremely interested in further expanding bilateral relations. In this period characterized by numerous unresolved conflicts, accelerating climate change, and new geopolitical tensions, we face serious challenges together.

From this perspective, the progress achieved toward the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia is particularly encouraging. I wish that your efforts on the path to establishing lasting peace in the region will soon be crowned with sustainable success.

I warmly congratulate the people of Azerbaijan on their national holiday and convey my most sincere wishes to you and your family."
