"Solar panels are being installed on residential buildings, and bidirectional meter systems are also being implemented."

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts, speaking to journalists during the WUF13 session titled "Placing Housing at the Centre of Crisis Recovery and Reconstruction."

Emin Huseynov emphasized that for the first time in Azerbaijan, bidirectional meters began to be used specifically in the territories liberated from occupation. For street lighting, autonomous off-grid systems powered by solar energy are predominantly used here.

It was also noted that a significant portion of the energy supply for the Karabakh and East Zangazur regions relies on alternative energy sources:

"Hydroelectric power stations play a particularly important role in this process. This will make a significant contribution to the formation of a sustainable economic model in the region.

In addition, projects for the construction of solar and wind power plants are being implemented jointly with various international partners. All energy projects are being introduced based on a separate analysis for each territory," E. Huseynov added.

As a reminder, WUF13 has been underway for five consecutive days.

The forum, which will conclude on May 22, is being held within the framework of Azerbaijan's close cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and is aimed at international exchange of experience in the areas of sustainable urban development, "smart cities," and innovative urban solutions.
