President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev does not intend to participate in the European Political Community (EPC) summit, which will be held in Armenia in May 2026.

As reported by BAKU.WS, Caliber.Az writes about this, citing sources.

"The current level of bilateral relations does not yet allow considering President Aliyev's visit to Yerevan as a relevant step. Azerbaijan proceeds from the principle of real actions. A high-level visit without a signed treaty (peace treaty - ed.) and without launching practical mechanisms could create a false impression of the completeness of the process. As long as the legal framework has not been formalized and obligations have not begun to be fulfilled, such steps would be premature," writes Caliber.Az.

At the same time, it is noted that the prospect of high-level visits in the future is not ruled out. "On the contrary, after the signing and commencement of implementation of the peace treaty, this will become a logical continuation of the process. Now, practical steps are needed to fulfill previously agreed obligations, which will allow peace to be secured not only de facto, but also de jure," emphasizes Caliber.Az.

It should be noted that on October 27, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the Armenian authorities had invited President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to participate in the European Political Community summit scheduled for May 2026 in Yerevan. Mirzoyan clarified that "documentation is currently being prepared" for the corresponding invitation.
