British Minister: Azerbaijan is an important partner in the field of security and diplomacy

Azerbaijan is an important partner of Britain in the fields of security and diplomacy.

As reported by Oxu.Az, this was stated by UK Minister of State for Defence Lord Vernon Coaker at an official reception in London dedicated to the 108th anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence.

Lord Coaker, who attended the event as a senior official guest from the British side, spoke about the growing potential of partnership between our countries: "I am proud that the British government I represent is elevating relations with Azerbaijan to the level of strategic partnership. This will allow our countries to expand cooperation in the fields of defence and security, trade, investment, economy, as well as innovation and education. These priorities are being discussed during mutual high-level visits between the two countries."

The British minister noted that in light of the current global instability, strengthening friendly relations with partner countries is of great importance.

He also highlighted Azerbaijan's significant achievements over recent years, stating that Britain welcomes and highly appreciates the continued efforts of President Ilham Aliyev aimed at achieving sustainable peace in the region.

The British minister also recalled with satisfaction his visit to Azerbaijan in December last year. Lord Coaker emphasized that he was impressed by the harmonious blend of ancient and innovative architecture, as well as the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures in Baku, and by the kindness and hospitality of the Azerbaijani people.

The minister also stated that meetings with the head of state Ilham Aliyev and Azerbaijani officials during his visit to Azerbaijan gave impetus to the development of bilateral ties, including cooperation in the field of defence.

It should be noted that Lord Coaker is also a member of the House of Lords of the British Parliament.
