International aviation regulations generally recommend completing aircraft crash investigations within one year from the time of the incident, regardless of the location of the tragedy. This was stated to journalists by the Vice President of CJSC "Azerbaijan Airlines" (AZAL) Ilham Amirov.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to APA, he emphasized that this timeframe is advisory in nature and is not a mandatory requirement. According to him, the key importance lies in the results of the investigation, which are then sent to all aviation organizations around the world to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Ilham Amirov noted that there are no strict time constraints, and if necessary, the investigation can continue for years. In particular, if a detailed analysis of individual aircraft parts, instruments, or components is required, they are sent to specialized institutes for in-depth study, which can take considerable time. At the same time, he added that in common practice, it is still recommended to complete the investigation within one year.

Recall that on December 25, 2024, an AZAL aircraft operating flight Baku – Grozny No. J2-8243 crashed near Aktau in Kazakhstan. There were 67 people on board, including 5 crew members. As a result of the plane crash, 38 people died, including three crew members, among whom were both pilots.
